This month we are welcoming: Paul Lawrence, Executive Director of Place, City of Edinburgh Council and Graham Ross, Partner, Austin-Smith: Lord LLP 


As Executive Director of Place, Paul is accountable for a range of major council services including travel and transport, housing, planning, waste, recycling and street cleaning.


Paul began his local government career as arts director for Durham City Council before moving to Northern Arts as assistant chief executive in 1997. He then went on to spend 10 years at Newcastle City Council as Head of Culture and later Assistant Chief Executive, where he played a central role in the city’s cultural regeneration and led on a number of economic development projects, including the Science City development.

Graham joined Austin-Smith:Lord in 1998 having studied at Edinburgh College of Art and the Technische Universität Berlin, graduating with Masters in both Architecture and Urban Design. 


Graham will be presenting on the (Y)our City Centre project that he is working on with Glasgow City Council. 


Glasgow City Council have appointed a team to develop with stakeholders and local communities, Regeneration Frameworks for four districts within the City Centre. The project is creating ambitious plans for the core retail, business, civic and cultural heart of Scotland’s largest city. The districts covered will be: Broomielaw, St Enoch, Central and Blythswood. The Frameworks will lay out the plans for Glasgow to fully realise economic, cultural and social potential.
