This month we are welcoming:
Isa Njai & Paul Blackler, Co-Founders, DrinkBaotic
Sydney Chasin, Founder, lil’POP
Lynne Mann, Founder, Supernature Oils
Paul McVeigh, Owner, Oisin’s Farm
Isa and Paul met in Gambia in 2008, during Pauls VSO voluntary placement with the ministry of Education. Having dreamt about Baobab drinks since they met, they finally put their dreams in to action and launched their start up.
Baotic is a unique and innovative functional health drink developed in the UK through the founders love of The Gambia, Africa and the world. Since launching in 2016 their aim is to tailor African ingredients to the UK taste bud. With a mission to share the vibrancy of Africa through Healthy, Happy and Helpful innovations.
lil’POP is an exciting new snack food company specialising in popped sorghum, which looks like miniature popcorn, but is made with a super-grain that is better for the environment and better for you! A drough resilient, eco-friendly, nutrient-packed crop, sorghum is predicted to be the next quinoa. Best part? It doesn’t get caught in your teeth.
In 2011, Lynn had just had a baby daughter and was on a career break from being a psychotherapist when Supernature Oils was born.
The business started as part of an on-farm diversification from their small tenanted family farm south of Edinburgh. The idea was that she would just help her husband get the idea off the groun to bring in some extra income.
However, as many startups can testify, things didn’t go to plan! The company took off and now Lynn runs an award winning cold pressed rapeseed oil company which is listed in Harrods and exported around the world.
Oisin’s Farm is a small family run business in West Lothian. Paul is a talented chef and smallholder who delights in making fresh, delicious food using his own home grown produce and hand reared animals. Paul is best known for his award winning chutneys which have wond Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Foods. He supplies local restaurants and cafes with his chutneys in addition to selling in retail outlets.
