This month we are welcoming:
Sam Smith, Programme Manager and Elaine Ballantyne, Head of Investment Support for the Borders Railway Blueprint
Derek Clark, Construction Director, Redpath Construction
Anna Christopherson, Co-Founder, Swedish bars (Boda Bar, Sofis Bar, Victoria, Joseph Pearce’s, Hemma, Akva)
The Borders Railway is breathing new life in to the economies of the Scottish Borders, Midlothian and Edinburgh, offering fantastic opportunities for business, investment and employment.
This project created 30 miles of new track and seven new stations. The new line delivers major economic and social development opportunities by providing a fast and efficient rail link connecting communities in the Scottish Borders and Midlothian to Edinburgh and beyond. It significantly increases the accessibility of jobs for the people of Midlothian and the Scottish Borders. As a result of creating an attractive public transport alternative to the car, approximately 60,000 peak car trips per year will be cut from the region’s roads.
Derek has over 27 years’ experience within the construction industry operating in all sectors and fields, at a national and international level.
Derek started Redpath Construction during the credit crunch in 2008. The company quickly established itself and became the 3rd fastest growing company in Scotland, turning over £35m since its inception.
Redpath have a dynamic company, boasting a team of directors each with a wealth of experience in the industry. Redpath focus on delivering projects across the Commercial, Education, Industrial, Healthcare, Retail, Conservation and Community sectors from £20k to £6m.
Anna is co-founder and owner of 6 bars/restaurants in Edinburgh; Boda Bar, Sofis Bar, Victoria, Joseph Pearce’s, Hemma and Akva.
Homely, quirky, community-spirited are all adjectives that could be used to described the Leith-end group of Swedish bars. They are not clones of one another however, each has it’s own identity and loyal regulars.
Thrive Networking is a unique business to business networking organisation who through structured and facilitated relaxed meetings ensure that our members and guests capitalise their experience and gain valuable introductions and grow their business networks.
