eRally Motorsport have built the UK’s first fully electric competition rally car, based on the Renault Zoe.

The car is aimed at junior rallying in the UK, to give competition drivers of the future a car that will not add to our air pollution problems, but will pave a way for clean motorsport in rallying. The eRally car has a 65kW electroniv motor, front-wheel drive, and is fitted out with adjustable competition suspension, seats, belts, roll cage and fire extinguishers. The 21kW battery pack gives 25 miles of competition driving, or 80 miles on the road.

Pale Blue Dot have recently been awarded SMART:SCOTLAND funding from Scottish Enterprise to support the development of patent-pending technology, GreenStills.

Green Stills distils whisky with reduced energy load, lower carbon emissions and improved energy supply options.

The state-of-the-art technology is expected to reduce energy use in distillation by more than a third. The UK’s 80% carbon reduction commitments by 2050 presents a major challenge to industries heavily dependent on oil and gas for fuel. Recognising the importance of the scotch whisky sector to Scotland and the significant fossil fuel based energy consumption of the distillation process itself, this technology will provide a huge step towards meeting this obligation.
